Dr. Venu Karapareddy

Founder and Medical Director

Dr. Karapareddy is a physician leader who is passionate about providing and developing innovative care solutions for those with Mental health, addictions and chronic pain. He is a UBC Clinical Associate Professor and addictions Psychiatrist.

 

He is a founder of Actum Health which has been the leader in providing Chronic Pain and Concurrent disorder services for British Columbians.

He co-founded Welmind Health digital solutions. Welmind provides digital health solutions, mindEMR, Veteran & First responders health and metabolic health (Habit Med).

Through BrainStim he aims to integrate advance technologies, psychological interventions and Wellness services to support better solutions for Neuroplasticity for Mind and Brain Health.

Chief Operations Officer 

After retiring in 2016 from the Canadian Armed Forces, Richard has dedicated his time to working in the healthcare field, specifically focusing on discovering new and innovative therapies to assist Veterans coping with mental health issues.

 

Through his professional network in healthcare, he came across Brainstim Health and was immensely impressed by their comprehensive approach. Seamlessly combining TMS with established therapies to offer robust assistance for conditions such as PTSD, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other common challenges faced by Veterans.

Dr. Sanjay Rao

Site Clinical Director

Dr. Rao has trained in psychiatry, cognitive behavioural therapies and business administration. He received his FRCPsych and MBA from the UK , his MD in psychological Medicine from India, and his FRCPC in psychiatry from Canada. 

He developed and was the Head of an evidence based psychological therapy centre in the UK delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and EMDR. He was awarded the Northern England Doctor of the Year in 2007 and invited to the Public Service Excellence Reception by the Prime Minster of UK.

Since 2011 he has helped the province of Nova Scotia develop Cognitive Behavioural Therapy implementation by training and supervising therapists across the province. He has also served as an executive member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy along with various management position such as Co-Chair of Chiefs of Psychiatrists in Nova Scotia, and Clinical Director of The Mood and Anxiety Program at the Royal Ottawa Hospital and also served as the Clinical Lead of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Improve Access to Structured Psychotherapy pilot at the Royal Ottawa Hospital.

Dr. Rao was also an advisor to the psychotherapy group in the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ontario for implementation of the provincial Improving Access to Structured Psychotherapy Programme.

In 2018 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in recognition of his efforts to disseminate CBT in Canada. He is involved in research concerning distance delivery of CBT through technology as well as workplace mental health using CBT and problem-solving approaches.

He trains and supervises multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists and counsellors and is now the site clinical director for Easter Canada at Brainstim Health.

Apart from training in multiple schools of CBT (CBT, ACT and Mindfulness) Dr. Rao is also trained in Strength based coaching approaches from Gallup Inc and Centre of Applied Positive Psychology from the UK.

He has delivered over 300 workshops in Cognitive behavioural therapies, presented in national and international conferences and published in several scientific journals. His training workshops can be accessed through the Unified CBT Academy at unifiedcbt.com

Beyond her professional pursuits, Kylie is a family-oriented person, cherishing time spent with her loved ones and their two dogs. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in coordinating and streamlining mental health services, ensuring that clients receive the care they need.

Rachel serves as an executive assistant to the CEO, where she plays a pivotal role in managing daily operations, facilitating communication, and ensuring smooth workflow. Furthermore, she’s a skilled medical transcriptionist.

Beyond her professional life, Rachel enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with friends.
